Maryanne serves as Interim Executive Director of the Blum Center and also holds an appointment at Berkeley Law School. She has a JD from Catholic University, an MBA from George Washington University, and a BA from the College of the Holy Cross. She is a member of the California Bar.

Chief Administrative Officer
Phillip Denny

Phillip serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Blum Center for Developing Economies, a position he assumed shortly after the Center was established in March 2006. Prior to joining the Center, he worked on political campaigns providing research and communications strategies for numerous candidates and organizations. He received a BA in political science from American University in Washington, D.C.

Alexis Bucknam

Alexis serves as the primary administrator and advisor for the Global Poverty & Practice Minor housed in the International and Area Studies Teaching Program. She also plays an integral role in developing and hosting other curricular activities of the Blum Center including a major speaker series and student symposium series. Bucknam comes to the Blum Center with a decade of experience in higher education with a particular focus on service-learning and student leadership. She earned a BS in Management from the University of Utah and MA in Education –Counseling in Student Affairs from UCLA.

Eva joined the Blum Center for Developing Economies in December 2007 as the Student Services Administrator. In addition to student advising responsibilities, Eva provides primary administrative and analytical support for the Center’s operations. As a student at UC Berkeley (Conservation and Resource Studies, 2006), she worked with the Cal Student Orientation Program for two years as both a counselor and the coordinator of Transfer and Extension programs, was a peer advisor in the College of Natural Resources, and participated in other campus organizations. Prior to returning to the UC Berkeley campus, she worked with San Francisco’s Department of the Environment’s School Education program coordinating composting and recycling programs in schools.

Liz joined the Blum Center for Developing Economies in August 2008 as a Graduate Student Researcher and is now a Graduate Student Instructor for the Global Poverty and Practice minor. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Maternal and Child Health at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. Prior to attending Cal and working at the Blum Center, Liz was a Program Coordinator for a non-profit organization in East Africa and India. Having graduated from Stanford University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in African history, Liz is excited to combine her interests in health and education with those of sustainable development within the global community.
