Sustainable Solutions to Global Poverty
The Blum Center identifies the most promising technologies and services to address poverty alleviation in developing countries. Center faculty and students transform technologies into socially useful innovations, while partnering with companies and local community organizations to deliver and scale these solutions. We are currently engaged in applied research projects in more than 20 countries.

Featured Project
The Blum Center is supporting innovative research aimed at turning the camera of a cell phone into a clinical-quality light microscope. The “CellScope” as it is known, can transmit images of patient blood samples remotely for evaluation by specialists. This will address both healthcare data collection and diagnosis problems in developing countries by linking the two through wireless communication.
