FELLOW APPLICATION PROCESS​

Student fellows can work on climate-action topics in organizations.

Climate Innovation and Entrepreneurship fellows can work on climate-action topics such as:
Climate Innovation Technologies
Electric vehicles
Utilities
Environmental Justice Advocacy
Water & Sanitation
Solar/Wind Energy
Disaster Preparedness

Fellows will be Masters-level students selected by a review committee and undergo career development preparation and be part of a fellowship cohort. They will be matched with organizations and embedded in organizations for 8+ weeks between May 15-August 15th (final dates dependent on the organizational host).

  • November/December 2023: Accepting Applications
  • January/February 2024: Fellows chosen by committee of faculty and staff 
  • February 2024: Matching of students and organizations
  • March 2024:  Mixer and cohort program kick-off -Fellows will go through training and participate in community-building activities
  • May 15th onwards: Begin the fellowship
  • August 15th 2024: Fellowship ends

Host and Fellow Responsibilities

Host Organizations

  • Identify staff supervisor to manage I&E Climate Action Fellow
  • Submit fellowship description and tasks
  • Engage in the matching process
  • Mentor and advise students
  • Communicate with Berkeley program director and give feedback on the program.

Berkeley Program Director​

  • Communicate with host organizations, students, and other university departments to ensure smooth program operations

Student Fellows

  • Complete application and cohort activities
  • Communicate with staff and host organizations
  • Successfully complete assignments from host organization during summer practicum
  • Summarize and report summer experience activities post-fellowship
